Manuel A. Pérez-Quiñones
Manuel A. Pérez-Quiñones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, and a member of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction at Virginia Tech. Pérez-Quiñones holds a DSc in Computer Science from The George Washington University. His research interests include human-computer interaction, personal information management, user interface software, digital government, and educational uses of computers. He is a member and former chair of the Coalition to Diversify Computing. He serves on the editorial board for ACM's Transactions on Computing Education journal. He is a former Associate Dean and Director of the Office for Graduate Recruiting and Diversity Initiatives at the Graduate School at Virginia Tech.
Dr. Pérez-Quiñones is Director of the Personal Information Management Research lab. The PIM lab studies how individuals use technology to organize and use their information to satisfy their day to day needs. The group studies how to best make use of our limited personal resources (time, money, energy, attention) to improve the quality of our lives. His research group has also explored the issue of culture and multi-language interfaces. He works closely with the Digital Government Research group, and the Web-CAT research group.
